Lunca Ilvei is a mountain village, located in North-Eastern Transylvania, between Transylvania and Bucovina, on the superior watercourse of Ilva Valley. The area is part of Bargau Mountains, with altitudes between 850m and 1450m, offering ideal conditions for holidays: healthy air, natural products and specific country life activities.
The landscapes are very picturesque and strengthening, with slow peaks dominated by volcanic hills, pastures and hayfields, combined harmoniously with shady coniferous forests sheltering a rich and various fauna.
From the high hills, during cloudless days, you can admire the wide open landscapes up to Transylvania Plateau and Dornelor County and to the crests of Rodna and Calimani mountains.

The gold exploitation in Rodnei mountains is still known since the Roman domination period, parts of the Roman road built that times being preserved until today in Tihuta region. Later, in the XVIII-th - XIX-th century, the villages from this area constituted a frontier guard’s regiment to the east border of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire and benefited of a lot of economic, social and cultural privileges, conferred by the emperor Franz Iosef himself, who also visited these regions.
People in these places owned since ever their forefather’s properties. The folklore and popular traditions have been well preserved and they are still present in daily rural life. The gastronomy, based on natural local products, will give you the opportunity to discover savoury foods.

In summer time, you can make hikes to a sheepfold or to the mineral water springs, you can have horseback riding lessons, or you can take a ride in a cart.
In winter, you can practise ski (equipment available for hiring), downhill ski, or you can take a ride in a horse drawn sleigh.
